James Rodriguez has been strongly linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer.
The Colombian star has lost his place in the team under Zinedine Zidane, but could he be leaving the club on the deadline day?
According to El Confidencial in Spain, Rodriguez’s agent, Jorge Mendes, was discussing a ‘dignified exit’ for the Colombian international with Chelsea last night.
Antonio Conte is apparently a big fan of Rodriguez and is keen on pairing him up with Eden Hazard.
El Confidencial say Chelsea’s ownership and their advisers were not particularly convinced by the viability of the transfer, as he could cost as much as €70m.
Chelsea, once again, tried to offer Cesc Fabregas in the deal, but Real Madrid aren’t interested in the former Barcelona star.
The player is reportedly not happy with his situation, with Mendes trying to infuse some positive energy.
It’s reported Mendes, Zidane, Marcelo and Ronaldo have asked the Colombian to keep working hard.
A deadline day transfer looks very difficult and complicated, but would certainly be exciting.
