Benfica star Talisca has been tipped to leave the Portuguese club this summer, as Rui Vitória doesn’t see him in his future plans. The player was close to moving to Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, but they instead signed Hulk.
On Friday, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo report Liverpool are interested in signing the Benfica player, not the first time the link has been made.
It is reported The FA have already received an application for Talisca’s work permit in England, and that his future lies away from Benfica.
Talisca’s agent Jorge Mendes is already working on a €25m exit from Benfica, but negotiations with any club will only accelerate when he is given assurances over a work permit.
O Jogo believe Talisca could be a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who could be leaving Liverpool this summer.
We’re not buying this. On the new work permit rules, Talisca would sail to enough points if he was bought for €25m.
Players now gain points through the size of their transfer fee, the wages paid, and the level of the club they’re coming from. Talisca would have no problem at that fee and coming from Benfica.
