It’s been a quite long time since Manchester City started being linked to Portuguese midfielder Rafael Leão.
Back in 2018, when the player was standing out at Sporting, local reports had already been claiming that Pep Guardiola is a fan of the player.
Years have passed, and the Premier League side continue to be named as one of the clubs who keep an eye on him. This time, we get to see links coming from Italian outlet Calciomercato.
The website today writes that Milan are currently working on a contract renewal for the 22-year-old. They want to give him two more seasons and a pay raise.
The worry for the Serie A side, however, is that while they negotiate with his agent Jorge Mendes, the representative continues to get offers from other clubs. And that’s where Manchester City show up again.
Calciomercato claims Mendes ‘has received a phone call’ from the likes of Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.
It’s still not clear if those clubs will make concrete offers for Leão in the summer, but at this stage of talks of a renewal, they certainly sound like a threat for Milan.
