Currently recovering from groin surgery, Daniel Podence is going to take the summer to recover and be ready to help Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League next season.

Either that or he’ll be playing under José Mourinho at AS Roma, if Corriere dello Sport are to be believed.

The Gestifute managed player is the latest in a long list of Jorge Mendes clients to be linked with a move to the Serie A side since the Portuguese manager was announced as Paulo Fonseca’s successor, coming after the likes of Rui Patrício and Nélson Semedo.

Podence has suffered with sporadic injuries this season, and was unable to fully find his form at Molineux, scoring just three goals in 24 league appearances.

Despite that, the talent was there for all to see, and Corriere explain that while Roma are looking at names for the goalkeeping position, where Patrício is allegedly at the top of their list, Mendes ‘could offer some other clients’, such as Porto’s Sérgio Oliveira or Wolverhampton’s Podence.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one, because while allowing a goalkeeper with one year left on his contract to go is one thing, letting a 25-year-old winger who is tied to the club until 2024 is a completely different kettle of fish.
