Cristiano Ronaldo potentially signing for Manchester City has brightened up the end of the transfer window. Pep Guardiola has been hunting for a striker, and having failed to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, the Juventus star became a possible alternative.
Claims came from Italy over a week ago, stating that Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, was working on moving his client to the Premier League club. Then this week saw a report from L’Equipe in France, which made the transfer sound possibly imminent.
Thursday morning saw reports of Mendes being in Italy for a meeting with Juventus, and Gazzetta dello Sport report the ‘meeting has ended’.
It would appear that not an awful lot happened during the talks, with Gazzetta saying Manchester City and PSG interest was mentioned but no offers were put forward.
During the meeting, Juventus expressed their frustration with the situation, with the Serie A side not wanting to be a bit part of a stretched out negotiation. They want Ronaldo’s situation sorting quickly, one way or another, but without an offer from Manchester City or anyone else, things aren’t as frantic as they’ve been presented.
