The Portuguese press is pretty much convinced that Benfica’s Andre Carrillo is on his way to Watford on a one-year loan deal.

Many local newspapers are reporting the transfer today, with Record even putting the story on their front page. They say the Hornets will be paying €1m for the move.

There will be a buying option at the end of the season, for the amount of €15m. According to the paper, this clause could end up being obligatory, in case the player reaches some personal goals during the season.

On top of the fee, Benfica want Watford to pay the player’s full wages, and so he doesn’t lose out, the same performance bonuses he has in Portugal will be active in the Premier League.

Record has learned that Marco Silva is confident that he will work with Carrillo again, and wants to have him alongside Islam Slimani from Leicester City.

Both players worked under him during the manager’s time at Sporting.
