The Ian Poveda mini saga rumbles on in the Turin media, with the Manchester City owned player still to make a decision on his future.
With a contract expiring at the end of the season, Tuttosport state Poveda hasn’t managed to impress Pep Guardiola enough and therefore City won’t be offering an extension. That would increase the possibility of them letting him leave for nothing this month.
Poveda is said to be very interested in signing for Torino, and negotiations are ongoing to try and reach an agreement over the next few days, however, the competition from Leeds United and Celtic remains.
As Tuttosport have it, Marcelo Bielsa has personally telephoned the 19 year old and wants to convince the youngster that signing for Leeds would be the best choice for his building career.
Promotion to the Premier League is in grasp for Bielsa’s side this season, which is another carrot to dangle in front of the attacking midfielder.
Manchester City, despite not wanting to keep the player, have been searching for ‘friendly destinations’ for him, perhaps suggesting they’d allow a free transfer if there’s a clause regarding the player’s future.
Given Guardiola is a big Bielsa fan, that could be helpful.
