According to claims in the Spanish media Newcastle United are interested in signing Kiko Casilla from Real Madrid. Joining Real Madrid from Espanyol in 2015, Casilla is firmly second choice behind Keylor Navas.
If Navas was to get the push as Madrid first choice goalkeeper, then it would likely be for someone from outside, rather than Casilla, but he’ll keep an outside hope of being able to feature more often.
However, despite Newcastle United interest , with Marca mentioning specifically it’s Rafael Benitez who is keen, Casilla is happy to stay where he is, as back-up.
Luca Zidane looks set to be promoted to third choice keeper at Real Madrid, with Ruben Yanez expected to leave the club. There’s interest from England, but it’s not suggested Yanez has also caught Benitez’s eye.
Newcastle’s only conceivable hope on Casilla is if Real Madrid bring in a replacement for Navas, and Casilla realises he has no hope of getting a better chance.
