Chelsea striker Diego Costa arrived at the Spanish national team camp with a medical report from Chelsea. Antonio Conte’s medical team wanted Spain to know that Costa was very tired physically and carrying a blow to his groin.
Spain’s team did their own tests, which confirmed the Chelsea reports, and a contusion was found in Costa’s groin area. That led to the Chelsea player missing Spain’s first training session of the international break.
Marca report on Thursday that he also missed the second. After convening to join the squad on the training pitch to say happy birthday to David De Gea and wish Aritz Aduriz congratulations on becoming a father again, Costa went to train to on a separate pitch.
That didn’t last long and Costa was soon back inside Spain’s facilities being treated by physios. Marca say that optimism is reducing for Costa and his injury situation hasn’t improved.
Spain face Macedonia on November 12th, and then England on the 15th. Marca believe it’s unlikely Costa will be fit and ready for Macedonia, and there’s not even great hope it’ll all be sorted out by the England match.
It would now be a worry for Conte, as the longer Costa takes to return to fitness, the less chance he’ll be in peak fitness when the Premier League starts again.
