West Bromwich Albion made a €7.5m bid for SCO Angers’ defender Romain Thomas during the summer transfer window, reports L’Equipe.

The bid was rejected by the Ligue 1 club, as the offer was made only on the deadline day, something Sport Witness exclusively revealed at the end of the window.

L’Equipe, however, believe the French defender could still depart in January, as many English and German clubs are keen on signing him.

West Bromwich Albion could also try their luck again in January, but might have to increase their offer. It’s stated SCO Angers have already received bids of €8m for the 28-year-old, who could be allowed to leave the club in January.

Thomas has once again been an important player for Angers this season, but the Ligue 1 club will hope they have a replacement ready in Mateo Pavlovic, who arrived in the summer.

Thomas has a contract until 2019 at SCO Angers, and has played every minute for the Ligue 1 club this season.
