Brahim Díaz arrived at Manchester City from Málaga in 2013 and after spending close to six years with the Premier League winners, he left them for Real Madrid in January 2019.
The La Liga side had an opportunity to sign the 20-year-old on a free transfer last summer, but they decided not to take that chance and acquired his services by paying a reported fee of €12m.
According to Marca, the Spaniard’s signing was ‘welcomed with enthusiasm’ because of Los Blancos’ poor run during the first half of the last campaign.
They were struggling to find the back of the net and the attacking midfielder’s arrival felt like a solution to fix the problem. However, things haven’t worked out well for either the player or his employer.
Real Madrid’s investment in signing Brahim hasn’t paid off as he has played only 563 minutes out of possible 6,030 minutes since he signed for them.
Brahim couldn’t even find regular opportunities when Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio were sidelined with injuries.
With the latter two regaining full fitness, the newspaper believes ‘it is impossible’ for the former City man to get more minutes.
Despite his time at the Santiago Bernabéu being nothing short of a nightmare, Marca add Zinedine Zidane’s side are receiving requests from multiple La Liga sides to take the player on loan.
A loan move next season could help Brahim get regular opportunities, something that hasn’t happened at either Real Madrid or at Manchester City.
