Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira will be out for around three weeks after picking up an injury playing for the reserve squad, Sport Witness have been told.
The goalkeeper, who was just called back from a loan at Belenenses, made his first team debut last weekend against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup.
Manchester United took a quick decision after getting to know how bad the injury was, and called up Dean Henderson, who was on a loan spell at Grimsby Town.
The end of the loan was confirmed by Grimsby on Twitter, as they claimed that a Manchester United goalkeeper had suffered an injury, leading to the recall.
There was some panic among Manchester United supporters about which goalkeeper had been injured, and whilst it’s a blow to Joel that he’s the unlucky man, there will be relief for Mourinho that it’s not David De Gea. That is unless there’s two injuries, which would sound unlikely.
Pereira impressed during his short loan period with Belenenses and the club were sorry to see the back of him. Such were the 20 year old’s performances that it led to rumours, still continuing, that Benfica have a growing interest in the player.
