Following reports at the weekend claiming Manchester United are still interested in Benfica defender Antonio Silva, the Portuguese media comes up to confirm the news today.
Newspaper Record features a story claiming the player knows he’s been wanted by European giants.
It’s said Silva is not concerned about the interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid, as he’s ‘happy’ and focused on Benfica’s season.
What is interesting is that Record claims to have it confirmed that the Red Devils and Galacticos both want the player.
That doesn’t sound like a scenario for the January transfer window, though, because the outlet says a decision on Silva’s future will only be made next summer.
At the age of 19, the defender has been showing great potential at Benfica, and is already valued by Transfermarkt at €45m. Last summer, he’d already been linked to a few Premier League sides.
Manchester United and Real Madrid won’t be watching Silva playing against Inter Milan, though, as despite travelling to the game, he’s currently suspended.
