Manchester United ‘want to sign’ Atlético Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente, according to AS.
It’s stated the Red Devils have contacted the La Liga side, to make an offer that reaches around €80m for the Spain international.
Diego Simeone’s side had no plans to sell the 26-year-old, but the ‘succulent proposal’ from the Old Trafford club has made Los Rojiblancos to ‘study the offer’.
The aforementioned figure will help Atlético recover losses caused by the global pandemic and elimination from the Champions League.
A potential move, as of now, seems difficult because the former Real Madrid man ‘does not contemplate’ leaving the club. He is ‘very comfortable’ at Atlético.
Llorente is aware his side are having financial difficulties and hasn’t caused any problem when it came to adjusting his salary.
AS explain that Manchester United were interested in signing the player in January 2020, but he wasn’t in favour of leaving Atlético. This was over a month before he exploded against Liverpool at Anfield.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side maintain an interest in Llorente. United’s ‘offer is on the table’ and Atlético are ‘tempted to accept it’. A move to England will see the midfielder double his salary.
Llorente, who considers Wanda Metropolitano to be his Theatre of Dreams, needs to be convinced for any potential deal to take shape.
