Goal Brasil today share some updates on Manchester United’s pursuit of Ajax star Antony.
According to their report, talks are currently stalled, as the Red Devils failed to advance in negotiations with the Eredivisie side.
Goal Brasil claims Manchester United have ‘tried to advance’ for a €60m deal. Ajax, however, have been blocking the agreement, requesting as much as €80m to let Antony go.
What could help the Premier League club is that the player and his staff want the transfer to happen and have been working for it. Goal Brasil say Antony ‘dreams of playing’ for Erik ten Hag’s new side.
That’s why his agent, Junior Pedroso, has been in Europe since the end of last season, trying to convince the Dutch club to accept an offer from Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s slow efforts to sign Antony had already been reported by the Dutch media earlier today.
This morning, newspaper Algemeen Dagblad claimed that with Ajax demanding €80m to sell Antony, the situation was paused because the Premier League club don’t see the need to rush, given the player is still out with an ankle injury.
Last season the 22-year-old played 32 matches for Ajax, scoring 12 goals and adding 10 assists. He missed the end of the campaign due to the ankle injury he’s still recovering from.
