Aston Villa’s new signing Diego Carlos still has a final appointment with his former club Sevilla.

According to a report from local Seville sport newspaper Estadio Deportivo, the defender will get a chance to officially say goodbye to the Spanish side before he starts playing for Aston Villa.

Sevilla are set to hold a ceremony at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Thursday afternoon. There, the player will get a chance to say goodbye to squad and fans, and will be accompanied by club director Monchi.

That’s certainly big respect shown by the Spanish club to a player who only featured for them for three seasons, and who has been heavily linked with an exit since 2021, sorting out the move to Aston Villa quite early this summer.

Steven Gerrard’s side spent €31m to sign Diego Carlos from Sevilla, and as written by Estadio Deportivo, the deal was agreed very quickly, while the player was still on holiday in Brazil. That’s why he didn’t get a chance for a proper farewell at the La Liga side.

The South American defender signed a four-year deal with Aston Villa.
