Even though Manchester United seemed to be one of the contenders for the signing of Ousmane Dembélé next summer, reports today now say the player may be going nowhere.
There are just a few months left on the winger’s contract with Barcelona, and despite the tough negotiations for a renewal, there’s now optimism about an agreement.
Two Catalan outlets report the developments in the talks today. Those are Mundo Deportivo and Sport, who now say Barcelona are only waiting for the player’s positive answer.
On the table there’s a contract until 2024 which rewards the player with big performance bonuses in case he meets the goals the club expect from him. The offer is said to be good enough for the Camp Nou side to be confident about the renewal.
Regarding Manchester United’s interest, both reports mention that the Red Devils were one of the clubs who’d been attentive to the situation.
Mundo Deportivo says the Old Trafford side had made an offer which would guarantee the player ‘more money and a bigger role’.
Meanwhile, Sport claims Barcelona knew his agents had been in talks with a few clubs, ‘especially’ Manchester United. It’s also claimed the winger would make a ‘hefty transfer bonus’ with the move.
Dembélé, however, is expected to stay at Barça, where he’s ‘happy’ to be.
