On Tuesday we covered claims from El Confidencial that the match against PSG was pivotal in the future of Gareth Bale.
If Zinedine Zidane didn’t start the Welshman then it would be a clear sign for the player’s agent and he’d begin seriously working on a summer transfer.
Given that Bale was on the bench, and only got 14 minutes once the game was pretty much over, it’s no surprise there’s another El Confidencial article today.
It’s claimed Bale is ‘transferable’ and that the player’s agent Jonathan Barnett is currently looking for a new club.
This time Manchester United are the only side mentioned, with Tottenham dropping out of the story. Jose Mourinho is presented as a big fan, and it’s believed the Real Madrid player will be a priority for the summer transfer window.
Manchester United’s interest is serious and has ‘meaning’ according to the Spanish claims. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants ‘at least’ €101m, so as not to lose money, but, more importantly, not to lose face.
Mourinho has made it clear he’s looking for midfielders now, rather than attackers. Unless a big name leaves Old Trafford in the summer then Bale arriving seems unlikely, and then there’s the worries over fitness, and a likely reluctance to pay Perez what he wants, for several reasons.
