Manchester United are dragged into many transfer rumours as a matter of routine, whether that be today’s Marca insisting they’re keen on Raphael Varane, or Il Milanista lining up a battle with AC Milan for a 17-year-old.
Milan are interested in signing Vincent Angelini, a young goalkeeper currently in the youth system at Celtic. His contract expires at the end of the season and it’s clear agents are at work behind the scenes to try and tempt clubs to move for him.
There’s some interest from the Rossoneri, according to the claims, as they look to try and have a long term succession route in their goalkeeping department, meaning it would be less likely they’d have to invest big bucks in the future.
According to Il Milanista, the Serie A club’s major issue when it comes to Angelini is Manchester United. The Red Devils are said to have ‘taken the first steps’ to sign the youngster, and have initiated contact with his entourage.
Given his contract expires at the end of the current season, that’s the right way to go about things.
Milan are therefore ‘at a disadvantage’ compared to Manchester United, so will have to up their efforts in the coming weeks and months. There’s every chance this is down to an agent telling Milan that there’s interest from Old Trafford, all in the hope of creating a wages auction.
