Manchester United summer signing Leny Yoro may be regretting his move in the summer, as he could now be on a pathway to glory at Real Madrid.

That’s according to journalist Ignacio Ruiz-Quintano for ABC, who believes Yoro and Real Madrid may be regretting his move to Manchester United at this point.

The 18-year-old moved to Old Trafford in a €62m move from Lille in the summer as Manchester United moved to secure one of the biggest prospects in Europe.

They had to beat Real Madrid to do so, with the Spanish giants also moving for the French defender and seeing him as a star of the future.

Reports in Spain and France had made it clear Yoro wanted to join Madrid above all else, but the Spanish giants had refused to pay what Lille wanted.

Manchester United instead convinced him, offering a bigger transfer fee and wages that the Spanish giants would never have gone near according to reports in Spain.

Ruiz-Quintano now believes that both parties will be regretting that, as injuries have limited Carlo Ancelotti’s options in defence and Yoro would have now been a key part of the plans.

“Leny Yoro was the centre-back who excited us the most because of how tough he was, which is what scares a striker the most,” he said.

“(He) seemed destined to mark an era at Real Madrid but United stole him from us, they due to the intrigues of his agent, the Portuguese Mendes. Mendes won and Yoro lost, given Madrid’s sudden defensive situation, where Yoro would have a highway to glory, something he will never have at United.

“With some perspective, the blame for Yoro’s situation was Mendes, one assumes, but also Madrid.”
