At the start of this month, we covered claims made by Sky Deutschland that Manchester United are ‘showing great interest’ in RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

Operating across multiple attacking positions, the 24-year-old has starred for the German club, scoring 26 goals and assisting 15 times in all competitions this season.

France have two friendlies against Ivory Coast and South Africa this month and Nkunku, who has received a call up for the upcoming fixtures, could make his debut for Les Bleus. Didier Deschamps has given the reason behind his decision to pick the Leipzig star.

“His spectrum has expanded, he no longer only plays on the wing, but also sometimes in the center or as a second striker. He’s closer to the goal now, which makes him even more dangerous,” Bild quoted him as saying.

Bild then questioned whether the Bundesliga attacker is ‘getting more expensive now’ after his selection for France.

His current deal expires in 2024 and it does not include a release clause. A fee of ‘at least €75m’ would be needed to take him away from Leipzig. It’s said he could be ‘even more valuable’ if he continues to shine with goals and assists, especially for the national team.

The report also looked at the player’s suitors and that’s when the Red Devils and Paris Saint-Germain are tagged.

Manchester United are ‘still very hot’, likely because of their interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, who brought the Frenchman to RB Leipzig from PSG in 2019. His former club are also in the picture to sign the Frenchman.

Although Bild state United are ‘very hot’ on the player, they don’t mention whether or not the Old Trafford club [and/or PSG] are willing to invest ‘at least €75m’ on Nkunku.
