Two days ago, Noticias de Gipuzkoa reported Liverpool are the ‘most interested’ club in Alexander Isak and Real Sociedad are willing to listen to offers for him in the summer.

Gipuzkoa’s edition of Mundo Deportivo have a report detailing the steps taken by the Reds to sign the striker.

The Merseyside club made an offer to the La Liga side ‘through an intermediary’ and their proposal was around €70m. The newspaper makes it clear this was not formal and it should not be considered as an ‘official’ offer from Liverpool.

Liverpool’s proposal via an intermediary has started to cause concern at the Spanish club.

It’s claimed Sociedad ‘fear’ this unofficial offer was a trial probe from the Premier League club and could they ‘accelerate another operation’ for the Sweden international.

The latest offer of €70m shows the ‘dimension the transfer’ of Isak could have in the summer.

The attacker has a €90m release clause. Real Sociedad’s ‘current claim is clear’ as any suitor wanting to sign the Swede must pay that price.

Isak has eight goals and three assists from 32 matches this season in all competitions.
