Following the announcement late on Sunday night that 12 European clubs were breaking away to start their own “Super League”, people have been waiting for players to speak out.
Ander Herrera, a former Manchester United player, was the first to do so, mostly because Paris Saint-Germain have rejected the invite to join, but we are now seeing others, this time from teams who are part of the 12, react.
Bruno Fernandes, the most recent Old Trafford hero, has done so on Instagram, reacting in a Story by sharing a post published by Wolverhampton forward Daniel Podence.
He wrote ‘the ball, the song, the dream, Zidane’s volley, Kaka’s solo, Liverpool in Athens, Ole in Barcelona, Cris and Seedorf. There are some things we just can’t really pay for it’.

This was a clear message against the formation of the Super League, and below, Bruno Fernandes commented ‘Enorme’, meaning ‘huge’, before sharing it to his own account by applauding the post and adding the message ‘Dreams can’t be buy’ followed by a heart emoji.
He meant ‘bought’, of course, but the message is the same, and it will be interesting to see whether or not he is asked by Manchester United, a club who has joined the new competition, to take it down.
After all, he’s going against his employer’s decision right now.
Could this be the start of a wave of anger from players all around the continent, with many from the involved teams?
