Manchester United have ‘taken an interest’ in Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilón, who is set to leave the Spanish giants this summer.
The defender has spent the season on loan with Sevilla, becoming a key player under Julen Lopetegui and impressing throughout last season.
There is no place for him at the Bernabéu, though, with Zinedine Zidane continuing to back Ferland Mendy and Marcelo in the position.
They are therefore happy to let Reguilón leave, and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea having been named as suitors this summer.
However, that potential move has now been closed after the Blues completed a move for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell, but according to Marca, they are not the only English side interested in him.
They report that his performances for Sevilla have ‘put him on the radar’ of some of Europe’s top clubs and Manchester United are among them having ‘taken an interest’ in his situation.
They are not the only ones keen, with Juventus, Inter Milan and Tottenham all named as potential suitors too.
Madrid are happy to sell, but their priority is to make sure they get good money for the youngster, and they value him at €20-25m.
It’s not made clear whether that is a price Manchester United would be willing to pay; in fact, the report is very thin on the details.
United could certainly do with a left-back, and Reguilón would certainly be an upgrade in the position.
He also fits perfectly into the club’s strategy of targeting younger players and Madrid’s asking price is not particularly high either.
However, Marca’s report is a little short of information, so perhaps it’s best to treat this with a hefty pinch of salt at this stage.
