From time to time, the French press comes up with a report saying Manchester United are interested in AS Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile.
Now, website Foot Mercato comes up with a new story, sounding a little more serious this time. They say the player may have already appeared in his last match for the Ligue 1 side, since it’s possible he’ll leave this summer.
It’s said the Red Devils have been interested in Badiashile since 2018, and have been ‘seduced’ by his potential given their need to strengthen the squad. So much so that they’re ‘closely’ following the situation.
Manchester United have competition from Bayer Leverkusen, who moved first and made a bid of between €15m and €20m for the player. But that won’t be enough to take him from France, since Monaco are demanding at least €30m for the sale.
Foot Mercato writes that the Red Devils ‘have chances’ of landing the 19-year-old, especially because he’s one of Monaco’s biggest hopes of making cash this summer.
Besides Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen, it’s said that Lyon, Rennes and Spanish clubs are also interested in the youngster.
