If isn’t enough that the French media are trying to convince everyone €70m isn’t a ridiculous asking price for Manuel Ugarte, they appear to also be using Manchester United to help out PSG in another transfer.
Earlier this week there were claims from France that Bayern Munich had offered a colossal €90m to PSG for Xavi Simons. It didn’t take long for those claims to be shot down in Germany, even if it is thought to be true that Bayern are keen.
Now L’Equipe publish several claims on Manchester United’s transfer pursuits and one relates to the Dutchman.
Bild claimed earlier this year that Manchester United had offered €60m in 2023, and it seems to be a tale which is being spun this week to pressure Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, seen as likelier destinations.
L’Equipe suggest Manchester United’s ‘financial power’ could ‘make the difference’ in a battle for Simons, presumably by pushing the price beyond a reasonable level… and perhaps close to that €90m fake offer.
Aside from that, it’s once again claimed PSG want €70m for Ugarte, although this time it’s also said Manchester United are making progress on personal terms by talking to Jorge Mendes.
