Every window Kostas Manolas will be heavily and repeatedly linked with a move to a Premier League club.
Previously it’s been Arsenal, over and over again, and Chelsea, and this time the club picked out for the AS Roma player is Manchester United.
The Premier League club have been repeatedly linked with many defenders around Europe and Manolas is one of the five or so pushed time and again by the Italian media.
Sunday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport says the reports are now ‘insistent’, although they now say the rumours are being pushed more in England and Greece, which perhaps suggests the original Italian reports are being run with and expanded upon.
Manchester United are said to be ‘ready to pay’ the defender’s €36m buying clause. Should there be any truth in that and the English club do so, the final word will be down to Manolas who can decide whether to move or stay in Rome.
It’s certainly not a panic situation for Roma, at least in the way Gazzetta present things, and they look at options to replace him, including Sampdoria’s Andersen.
