Real Betis star Nabil Fekir is ‘starting to be highly coveted’ by top European clubs as he is on the radar of several clubs, including Manchester United and Inter Milan.
That’s what Fichajes.net are reporting today, adding the Red Devils and the Serie A side have joined others in the race to acquire the 27-year-old’s services in the summer.
Liverpool are currently the ‘main favourites’ after failing to sign him both last summer and when the France international came close to joining the Reds in 2018, when his move to Anfield collapsed at the last minute.
Other suitors like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and the Nerazzurri remain hopeful of convincing the attacking midfielder to join them over the Merseyside club.
As of now, Real Betis have not received any firm offers for the former Lyon man and have no intention of letting one of their prized assets leave for cheap, which is why it’s claimed a ‘good sum’ will be needed to convince both the club and the player to go their separate ways.
Fekir prefers to play as an attacking midfielder, a position that’s already occupied by Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford, with the Portugal international’s fine performances having forced last summer signing Donny van de Beek to sit on United’s bench.
With the Dutchman struggling to get regular minutes, it doesn’t make sense for United to overload the same position by making an effort in signing Fekir and Solskjaer’s side are likely to focus on other areas than the attacking midfield position in the next market.
One cannot rule out the possibility of United being dragged into the mix to create a transfer battle and help Real Betis earn more through Fekir’s potential sale in the summer, and only time will tell whether this is the start of something or merely a rumour to swiftly discard.
