Manchester United are keeping track of Sporting duo Eduardo Quaresma and Nuno Mendes but have been told they will have to pay €45m for either player.

Sporting’s academy has a long history of developing players, and as such, the big clubs around Europe are always attentive to what is going on there according to A Bola.

This year the two brightest prospects are Quaresma and Mendes, whose development has not only made them worthy of more playing time but consideration as starting players for Rúben Amorim.

It is because of this that their names are ‘circulating with some insistence’ inside Old Trafford as both centre back and left-back are considered problems positions for Manchester United at present.

Yesterday there were reports in England that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was eyeing up a move for Quaresma in particular as he was an ‘admirer’ of the player.

A Bola cover that here and suggest that while a deal for him would take some work, it is different for Mendes as his agent Miguel Pinho has a ‘privileged relationship’ with Manchester United, especially after being part of the deal for Bruno Fernandes.

The left-back spot is presented as an issue for United and thus Mendes’ ‘adult displays’ have earned him ‘more and more attention’.

United will have to pay big if they want either player, though.

Both have €45m release clauses in their contracts, which run until 2025, and Sporting have made them ‘aware’ that is what they want for any deal to happen.
