After news emerged that Manchester United were in talks to send Fred to Fenerbahçe, there was optimism a deal could be struck.

The Brazilian had already agreed terms with the Turkish side, but there was still the problem of the two clubs agreeing, and that is now done, it seems.

We say this because journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu took to Twitter on Friday afternoon to reveal that the Manchester United midfielder ‘will be in Istanbul tomorrow’.

That suggests he has been allowed to travel to then undergo the regulatory medical checks before putting pen to paper to his new contract.

Once that is done, he will wave goodbye to Manchester United after joining them from Shakhtar Donetsk back in 2018 for close to €60m.

He became an active part of the squad under many managers, and was quite the regular under Erik ten Hag last season.

However, with the Dutchman wanting to make a few changes and strengthen his squad further this summer, it quickly became clear Fred would become one of the casualties at Old Trafford, especially with just one year left on his contract.
