Marouane Fellaini put in a good performance for Manchester United against Middlesbrough on Sunday, getting a crucial goal for his side. Jose Mourinho, just like managers before him, thinks a lot of Fellaini, and whilst the Belgian may not be the most graceful of footballers, it’s clear he follows orders as set out by his coach.
Once again in the Belgium squad, Fellaini sat out national team training on Monday, report DH. There’s no explanation why Fellaini missed out, and he was one of three players not taking part.
The other two were Eden Hazard and Thomas Meunier. It’s not a case of Belgium manager Roberto Martinez letting players rest who played on Sunday, because others who were involved took part.
Manchester United may well have sent Fellaini along with instructions regarding his fitness, as Mourinho tries to manage his squad fitness for the rest of the season. Alternatively, Fellaini may be struggling with an injury, something which would be of concern to Mourinho.
