Less than two weeks ago, Portuguese newspaper A Bola went with a front page shouting ‘Boss Bruno’, as they covered Bruno Fernandes excelling yet again for Manchester United.
Inside, the term ‘Brunited’ was used to underline just how important the midfielder is for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
That was again the case on Saturday, although Fernandes didn’t start the match. Being rested ahead of the crucial Champions League tie against RB Leipzig, he was forced to watch as his teammates went a goal down to David Moyes’ West Ham.
Coming on at half time, along with Marcus Rashford, he had a huge impact and was one of the key players as Manchester United launched a comeback to win the match 3-1.
Portuguese newspaper Record give their take on Sunday and say Fernandes was the ‘remedy for depression’, and that when he’s on the pitch ‘everything changes for the better’.
O Jogo also cover the Fernandes show, and explain that the match changed in the second half as Solskjaer’s side went from struggling against West Ham to pulling them apart.
There continues to huge pride in Portugal given the impact Bruno Fernandes has had on English football, and Manchester United supporters will hope that continues.
