Despite testing positive for Covid-19 at the weekend, Manchester United fullback Alex Telles hasn’t left the Brazilian national team squad yet.
As reported by Globo Esporte, manager Tite called up Atlético Mineiro’s Guilherme Arana as a ‘precaution’, but may still have the Red Devils’ star available for tomorrow’s match against Uruguay.
The outlet reports that Telles is in the final stage of the virus, which means he can’t transmit it anymore. All of his previous tests had been negative in the past few days.
However, Uruguay don’t accept travellers in that condition, so his next test, which will be done today, must be negative for him to fly out with the squad.
In case Telles proves to be recovered and goes to Uruguay, then Brazil will have three left-backs in the squad.
For the game against Venezuela on Friday, it was Atletico Madrid’s Renan Lodi who played the 90 minutes, with the Manchester United player being only brought on in additional time.
To be clear, the slant in Brazil is that the positive test is due to Telles’ previous Covid-19 diagnosis and not him catching the virus again.
