Eintracht Frankfurt have made their anger with Guillermo Varela very clear indeed. The Uruguayan defender has spent the majority of this season injured, whilst on loan in Germany from Manchester United.
Several weeks ago Varela had a tattoo and was subsequently warned by Eintracht’s coach Niko Kovac not to do it again during the season, because the risk of inflammation is too great.
Varela ignored the warning, and went ahead with another tattoo, and this time Kovac’s warnings hit home, with the inking becoming infected. German newspaper Bild report that Varela has even got blisters around the tattoo, and, whilst it’s now stated he’d be fit to play in the weekend’s cup final, he’s been kicked out of the club.
The Manchester United owned player is now thought to be back in Uruguay already, and Bild quote Eintracht’s Fredi Bobic as saying: “Such behaviour is negligent. He has opposed our instructions, so we have reacted in this way. The Eintracht chapter is finished for him.”
Bild say 24 year old Varela has been fined €50k, which is around £43k.
Jose Mourinho surely isn’t going to be impressed, and the fullback will likely be looking for a new club.
