Sunday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports AC Milan need to ‘sacrifice’ one of their stars in order to make their financial situation better.

The Serie A club last week received a two year ban from European football and were fined €30m for failing to comply with FFP. That’s led to many transfer rumours already, and Gazzetta say someone big will have to go.

Leonardo Bonucci is one of the obvious candidates, and Manchester Untied have been repeatedly linked over the past few days. Gazzetta say Milan will consider an offer at €35m.

That sounds rather handy for Manchester United, if Il Mattino are to be believed.

A couple of days ago the newspaper claimed AC Milan won’t make huge efforts to keep Bonucci, because of their financial situation and his €8m a year (likely to be after tax) salary. Jose Mourinho was said to be keen to make Bonucci the ‘leader’ of his defence and ‘wants to offer €35m’.

Previously it’s been reported Bonucci hasn’t wanted to leave Italy due to a medical condition his son has, or had, and being used to the treatment in the country.

Il Mattino state: ‘The former bianconero who, for reasons strictly private, had decided to postpone an experience abroad… But now the scenario is different, the moment can be considered ideal.’

There is no further indication on the player’s personal circumstance.

Should that €35m offer arrive from Manchester United then this deal stands a good chance.
