With the sale of Harry Maguire to West Ham, Manchester United need a new defender in the squad, which is why they are targeting Benjamin Pavard.

However, there is some movement in the midfield area expected, and the man Erik ten Hag is trying to sign is Sofyan Amrabat.

The problem is that the offer from Manchester United is taking its time to arrive at Fiorentina, but they are not giving up hope, as Corriere dello Sport explain on Thursday.

They state that despite it being two months since it was half-announced the Morocco international would be leaving if €30m were put on the table, the Red Devils could still make their move.

In fact, ‘every day that passes now can really be the good one’, and Corriere expect ‘the decisive lunge’ from the Old Trafford side ‘at any time’.

Some of this is also echoed by Corriere Fiorentino, a more local newspaper, who believe Fiorentina want to obtain an amount ‘higher than €30m’ for their star.

This is something Manchester United ‘know well’, and Ten Hag is said to be ‘waiting for reinforcements’ that would allow him to have two players in each position for more squad depth.

First, though, the Red Devils need to thin out their squad with some sales, but they remain ‘the most realistic option’ for Amrabat.

The wait continues.
