Manchester United are very much in the mix for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic Savic this summer, and ‘his future could be in England’.
That’s according to Inter Live, citing La Repubblica, who cover Manchester United’s interest as they’re set to rival Inter Milan for the Serbian.
They explain that while Inter have shored up Marcelo Brozovic’s future, they could ‘get their hands’ on at least one more ‘important’ midfielder in Milinkovic-Savic.
He’s the ‘big dream’ for the club and manager Simone Inzaghi, but Lazio won’t let him go on the cheap. In fact, their demands are seen as ‘very high’, making it hard for anyone to get him.
There is also competition from Manchester United, who are ‘serious’ about a move for him as they gear up to replace Paul Pogba.
They’ve put €60m ‘on the plate’ to get a deal over the line, although that is still €20m short of the €80m that Lazio chief Claudio Lotito wants for his ‘jewel’.
It ‘could be possible’ for the two clubs to find a meeting point in the middle at €70m, particularly as Lazio would prefer to avoid selling to another Italian team anyway.
In terms of a contract, Manchester United could also ‘break the bank’ on salary, offering a five-year €7m a year deal to convince Milinkovic-Savic to make Old Trafford his next destination.
