Manchester United are one of the growing number of clubs to have been linked with AS Monaco and France midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni.
At just 21-years-of-age, the player has been impressing in midfield, and can operate in the deeper role where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have clearly been lacking. He has a contract with Monaco lasting until June 2024, and the bigger the competition grows, the more the French principality side will think they are able to get.
Just over a week ago, Le Parisien reported that Manchester United are ‘attentive’ to the player, and now Fichajes present them as competition for Juventus, saying the Red Devils ‘do not lose sight’ of the youngster.
Over at Tuttosport, a Turin newspaper, they also cover Juve interest, although they put the competition as Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Tuttosport believe the cost of a January deal would be around €40-45m, which may be difficult for Juve, requiring sales, but shouldn’t be out of reach for Manchester United.
Interestingly, back in 2019, when Tchouaméni was breaking through, he was compared to Paul Pogba. Those comparisons don’t really work any longer, but when he was asked about it, again in 2019, he said: “It’s always a pleasure to be compared to Paul Pogba… and he plays for a club that I like.”
That’s not the worst news for Manchester United’s chances.
