Manchester United’s transfer window has been so quiet that there’s not even a lot of obviously fake stories flying around. Sure, they’ve been linked to Lionel Messi this week, but in normal times there’d be endless claims about the Red Devils being interested in footballers around the world.
It’s so tired that the best the Italian media have come up with lately is links to Douglas Costa, a story so old that Jadon Sancho may still have been at school when it started.
Over in France, there was a claim this week that Manchester United have made a €25m offer for Benoit Badiashile. That bid was rejected by AS Monaco, with the French media making it clear that only a mega offer would succeed this summer.
Spanish newspaper AS have it slightly differently, and they explain the situation in an article covering Real Madrid interest. Zinedine Zidane sees the 19 year old as a good target for his club, and someone who could follow a similar path to Raphaël Varane.
They cover Manchester United’s offer, and say Monaco don’t want to sell during the current window, feeling they’ll be able to get more in the future.
However, AS believe a bid of €30m+, which would likely have to have bonuses added, would be seen differently.
Real Madrid aren’t in a hurry and may wait until next year, concentrating on exits first, so that gives United an opportunity to get in there first. Should they feel the player is worth €25m, then maybe an extra push can’t be ruled out.
