Italian outlet Tutto Atalanta continue to sound very sure that Manchester United are one of the main contenders to sign Merih Demiral this summer.
The website has featured two stories on the defender. The first claimed that despite the Italian club’s intention of triggering the buying option to sign him permanently from Juventus, he should be ‘sacrificed’ so they can make money with his immediate sale.
That’s where they mention Manchester United and Real Madrid among the ‘top European clubs’ who are potential destinations for him.
Then in another story about several situations in Atalanta’s squad, Tutto Atalanta returns to speaking of Demiral and the ‘redemption’ being used to sign him from Juve.
There they claim that Manchester United are ‘above all’ in the list of European clubs who are ready to go for his signing, even though Real Madrid ‘moved first’ for the transfer.
It’s said the two clubs ‘may already have an agreement in principle’ with the Serie A side for the move, even though there are no numbers mentioned in the story.
The operation would be similar to the one with Christian Romero, who Atalanta also signed from Juve and immediately sold to Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
