Fulham and Arsenal are the two clubs from the Premier League interested in signing Mehdi Benatia in the winter market.

Two days ago, Yahoo Sports in France reported the defender has rejected approaches from the Cottagers and the Gunners and is set to join an unnamed Qatari club.

Journalist Alfredo Pedulla now claims that apart from the two English clubs, Manchester United made an offer to land the player ‘in recent days’.

For the transfer to take shape, the Red Devils had offered a deal that would see him earn €3.7m per season in wages, if the 31-year-old made a switch to Old Trafford.

However, the former Bayern Munich centre-back demanded a salary of €4.5m a season, which was not accepted by the 20-time English champions.

For this reason, Benatia rejected an approach from Manchester United and his future will now be in Qatar at Al-Duhail.

United have been inked with Benatia repeatedly, but that should stop now he’s off for semi-retirement.
