Haber Global’s Fenerbahce journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims Liverpool and Manchester United scouts were recently in Turkey to watch Tottenham Hotspur target Eljif Elmas.

Last weekend Besiktas played league leaders Basaksehir and Fenerbahce faced their arch rivals Galatasaray.

According to Sabuncuoglu, Liverpool and Manchester United were present for the two Istanbul derbies and they were joined by scouts from Inter Milan, Juventus, Sassoulo, Torino and Dijon.

It’s claimed Liverpool and Manchester United were getting a lowdown on Fenerbahce’s Eljif Elmas, Besiktas’ Dorukhan Tokoz and Guven Yalcin, and Basaksehir’s Irfan Can Kahveci.

Elmas has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks whilst Dorukhan Tokoz and Guven Yalcin have been linked with moves to West Ham United and Burnley respectively.

Earlier this month we covered reports from the Turkish press that Tottenham are closing in on Elmas, with claims of a €20m offer from the Premier League side. The 19 year old has also been linked with Cardiff City and Leicester City.
