Every day, Gazzetta dello Sport try to bring the latest news about European transfers to their readers and sometimes they branch out beyond the borders of Italy.
One of their stories, albeit brief, on Sunday concerns Manchester United’s interest in Pau Torres, as the Red Devils continue their search for the ideal Harry Maguire partner.
The Spanish centre-back was one of the key men in Villarreal’s dogged win against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men in the Europa League final, and all but confirmed why a few of the big teams around Europe are keen on his services.
Manchester United have been reported to be among them, and Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on Sunday that they are ‘about to launch an offer of around €50m’ after having ‘long been on his trail’.
However, they are also warned to ‘watch out’ for Real Madrid, who have also set their sights on the Villarreal man as they prepare for the post-Sergio Ramos era at the Bernabéu, on top of potentially losing Raphaël Varane, who has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Either way, Gazzetta seem convinced that Manchester United want Pau Torres, and an offer appears to be on the way, according to them.
