Real Betis have been very much pushing Giovani Lo Celso towards the market this summer to try and see if they can attract a huge offer.
Claims of interest and offers have come from sport media in Seville. Even when one of the national sport newspapers covers it, such as Marca have today, the journalist in question is almost always based in Seville.
Betis’ attempts to drive the price as high as possible, with earlier claims of them wanting as much as €80m, involved dragging Manchester United into the equation, perhaps to pressure Tottenham Hotspur.
Then Spurs showed that wouldn’t alter their thinking, and they slapped in a €40m offer.
With that bringing the price down, Betis needed something to edge it back up again. And they’ve found just that with the Copa America, with the 23 year old getting appearances and also scoring in the last match against Venezuela.
Tottenham get another mention, with it being stated they could soon have money from a Christian Eriksen sale, whereas Manchester United are said to be ‘very interested’.
Betis are now hoping for €70-75m.
