Manchester United still continue to be linked with Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé, whose contract expires in 2022.
Mundo Deportivo say the La Liga side ‘do not trust’ the winger’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, when it comes to the player’s renewal.
Barca president Joan Laporta and vice-president Rafael Yuste have conveyed to the 24-tear-old they are excited to see him succeed at the club and become ‘one of the team’s leaders’.
In addition to this, the Spanish club’s sporting leaders have already expressed their desire to tie down the France international to a new contract.
Despite Barca’s intentions, the player’s agent is stalling. It is suspected within the Camp Nou that the representative is ‘talking to other clubs’.
As per the report, Manchester United and Juventus have ‘shown the most interest’ to acquire the player’s services, without forgetting Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
A section of Barca’s sporting leaders will urge the former Borussia Dortmund man to sign a new contract. If it’s found out the agent has been offering his client elsewhere to get a commission for himself and the player does nothing about it, they would propose pushing him to one side this season.
Laporta will have a ‘lot to say’ on leaving Dembélé out this season, if he refuses to sign an extension. The possibility of placing him on the market in January is not ruled out.
Mundo state: ‘In the end, the solution is in the hands of the player. The artist is him and his agent only represents him. Therefore, the star’s will should outweigh Sissoko’s. They expect it at Barça. If that doesn’t happen, there will be a mess.’
