Manchester United are keen on signing young Spanish midfielder Fran Villalba, reports El Desmarque in Spain. The 18-year-old plays for Valencia, and has already made his debut for the senior team.
El Desmarque say Manchester United see Villalba as a safe bet for the future, and could sign him for their development team. Villalba has a release clause of €4m, which shouldn’t be an issue if Jose Mourinho is genuinely keen on signing him.
It’s reported Villalba wants to continue at Valencia and really breakthrough to the senior team, given that he’s come through the club’s youth ranks. However, if Valencia don’t give him enough chances the player could consider leaving in the future.
The 18-year-old featured in three Copa del Rey games last season for Valencia, but hasn’t played for the senior team this season. Barcelona’s transfer guru Robert Fernandez is also said to be interested in the youngster for a possible future deal.
It’s worth pointing out Liverpool were also reportedly interested in Villalba back in 2014, but he chose to stay at La Liga club.
