O Jogo have an Alex Telles story today, both online and in their newspaper, which has got us scratching our heads.
They report: ‘Manchester United want to strengthen at fullback and should come up with a €30m bid in the coming days’
If it was left there it wouldn’t be so strange. Telles is an excellent left back and the 26 year old’s departure from FC Porto is overdue.
However, O Jogo go on to say: ‘according to a report from Sky Sports’
There’s nothing online from Sky about this and no chatter about it being televised either. The same can be said for the various other European versions of Sky.
Unless O Jogo have seen something which nobody else has, then they’ve either got very confused here or plucked it from thin air. Telles’ agent certainly isn’t the type to have manufactured this story, and this isn’t the way that would have happened anyway.
The story isn’t attributed to any journalist, which isn’t unusual in itself, so we can’t go off and ask them either.
Regardless, Telles has a €40m buyout clause and Porto would be looking for the full amount.
Update: O Jogo have since deleted the online version of their article.
