Manchester United have dropped their demands from €12-15m to €6m in order to ensure they can sell Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos.
That’s according to Greece’s Sport 24, who say the Manchester United winger will be signing a ‘shiny contract’ with the Greek side.
They report that Pellistri is set for medical tests in the ‘next few hours’ before signing with Panathinaikos until 2028.
An agreement has already been struck with Manchester United for the 22-year-old, who are happy to move the Uruguayan winger on.
The report states Manchester United had initially asked for €12-15m, when Panathinaikos made initial contact 20 days ago. However, the Greek side’s management have talked them down to €6m. There are unspecified bonuses included in the deal which could potentially take the price higher, but the flat fee is put at €6m.
The feeling, tough, is that the Greek side have fought a ‘great battle’ with their Premier League counterparts and won.
Either way, a deal is now close to being done and Pellistri will sign a contract until 2028 when it is. That will see him earn €1.6m a year, potentially €2m if bonuses are included, with the figures being given after tax.
He’s certainly secured himself a good deal, at least as far as they’re concerned in Greece, where they also think Panathinaikos have talked Manchester United into a better deal for their benefit too.
