We’ve said this many times before, and we’ll say it again: the Italian media are adamant that Nikola Milenković will play in the Premier League next season.
The club has yet to be defined, but the suitors, namely Manchester United and Liverpool are circling, although one of them appears to be in the lead.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain that both the centre-back and Franck Ribéry have their ‘suitcase already ready’ ahead of the summer, with both expected to leave Fiorentina.
Milenković’s contract with the Serie A club expires in 2022, and the ‘young Serbian talent has chosen in recent months not to extend his contract just to be able to leave at the end of the season’.
His destination is pretty much guaranteed: ‘the doors of the Premier League will open wide’ for him, where ‘Manchester United have a clear advantage as they started dialogue with the player’s agents last summer’.
That doesn’t mean Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. won’t have any competition, as it’s explained ‘there are other clubs interested in England’, but it does suggest Ed Woodward and co. have already done their homework on this one.
The price has been the same for a while now, with it expected that Fiorentina ‘will collect around €35m from the sale of their central defender’.
For them, that’s a huge return on a player they paid €6m for back in 2017.
