Manchester United have been relatively busy so far during the January window, but their business has largely revolved around exits.
Whilst Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund on loan has taken many of the headlines, there’s been multiple younger players who have been the subject of negotiations and should complete their moves soon.
Hannibal Mejbri has been strongly linked with a transfer to Sevilla, in a deal which would initially see the midfielder move on loan. The Spanish club would have an option to make that move permanent, and there would be clauses favouring Manchester United for the future.
Hannibal isn’t the only Manchester United youngster to have caught Sevilla’s eye. According to Sunday’s edition of ABC Sevilla, the La Liga side have sealed a deal for Mateo Mejía.
The 20-year-old Colombian is a right sided forward and the report states his contract was set to expire at the end of this season, but Manchester United are letting him move as a free agent now.
That’s because they’ve secured a 25% sell-on clause, so will hope for some money down the road.
In June 2023, Manchester United announced a new contract for Mateo Mejía, and presumably that was just for one year.
